MP3′s in my inbox…the un-opened, un-received, and the mass deletion!

By thatretailchick

I get a lot of emails with people sending their music trying to win some points with their new hot song.  Now I will admit that I send out emails myself to get my message across and they are well received most of the time.  However, if you email me your song and I don’t know who you are, it was un-opened, which means I did not receive it, and therefore it probably was deleted.  Believe it or not, most of my industry friends do the same.  And if you send it to a record label email address forget it!  It most likely went straight to the junk mailbox.

So please…STOP SPAMMING MY INBOX!

I know, you are trying to make it and want to be heard, cool.  I feel ya!  I send out mine because I want to be heard too.  But it’s time that artist found a better way to get the music across.  Especially those that send an email 2-3 times a week.  Come on son!  I have a suggestion for you:

Have a purpose when you email your MP3!

Most times the email never says why you are sending it.  Do you want me to listen?  Do you want me to comment on what I heard? (Probably not because you already think it is the hottest song out that no one has heard and my opinion would make you think I was a hater).  How about this…Do you know who the people are that you sent the music to and what role they play n the music industry?  Have you asked yourself the question “How can they help me get to the next level?”

Come on artists!  You got to step your game up!  Be more creative!  Have a better plan!  You want the answers on how to make it in this industry??  There is not one answer for everybody!  What worked for Jeezy included a pretty big investment.  What worked for Lil Wayne is his years in the game!  What worked for Luda was his start at radio.

But apparently…what is not working for you…is the spam in my inbox!

Excellent advice. The thing is…do these artists read? Not trying to be funny, but ego and pride has resulted in many artists thinking they know it all so they’ll continue to do the same thing without stepping their game up. Oh well…

Excellent advice. Now only if enough artists out there READ and take heed.
